Carolina shag with Fred Milano

Fred Milano, The "Carolina Shag" originated along the East coast beaches in the 40's and 50's. It's similar to swing dancing and jitterbug in terms of the beat and timing, but slower and smoother. The Shag is danced to Rhythm & Blues, traditional beach music, or Motown rather than fast-paced swing. Twice a year thousands of shag dancers "migrate" to North Myrtle Beach to enjoy a week of dancing and partying in the clubs that line Main Street and Ocean Drive.  This class will teach you the fundamentals and basic steps of Shag. A partner is not required. Wear shoes that slide easily, or socks. Please, no sneakers or flip-flops. Instructor:  Fred Milano, past president, Boone Shag Club.
